Hamish sings this and he does a grand job. If you want to work out the true meaning of the imagery related to this song, you're very welcome, as it is extremely convoluted for such a short song.
The use of the Scottish language is quite beautiful and poetic, although I confess to being a wee bit confused at times, but let it pass. I'm confused by most things these days.
It's a great song. That's just my personal view of course.
The text of "The Witch of Fife" actually comes from "The Queen's Wake" which is a narrative poem by James Hogg, first published in 1813, described as, "one of the landmarks of British Romantic poetry".
