about

This was thought to be written after George 1st acceded to the British throne in 1714. It's from Hogg's "Jacobite Relics of Scotland," vol. I 1819. There's a convoluted story about who wrote what, but generally Hogg gets the credit.
I criticise my singing a lot but this is pretty good. Looking back, it's amazing how effective the simple arrangements are. OK, we do the instrumental after the solo, but it fits well. Hamish doubles up on concertina and whistle.
