about

The Balaena ("Balena" spelling on the album, wrong). Actually there's no such thing as definitive information re folk songs and this is no exception. There's an old Canadian song called "The Polina" and Newfoundlanders claim the song originated there. Most think the ship was built around 1946 when it went to Antarctica with a scientific expedition but the old boat was late 19th century. Just saying.....!
