about

In the 70s, The Macs were offered theatre productions for up to three weeks at a time, after each one we immediately went back on tour. We did a few runs of those, musically illustrating the action on stage. The two songs here come from Hector MacMillan's "The Rising" about the uprising of the Scottish weavers.
"The Scotsman" newspaper reviewer said that it was: "The best blend of folksong and drama that I have come across."
We loved the shows and this particular three week theatre run was in Dundee Rep with informal cast sing-songs every night, in the bar, after each performance. Great fun and life-long friendships.
