about

This is another "seemed a good idea at the time" song. Good singing, great balance, but it misses its target and sits uncomfortably in the middle of good material on the album. A combination of the kazoos (which were good fun) and the talking introduction finishes the self-destruction job. I was a fan of the old dance bands and heard this from Harry Roy and his Band which specialised in double entendre titles. It was recorded in 1939. That version is brilliant. While you're at it, listen to the Roy Fox Band via your search engine.
