about

In 1983, for a tour of New Zealand, we were asked to put together a programme related to Scottish History for some gigs at schools at which we played in tandem with evening concerts.
The project got me thinking again about the misguided "blame England" cop-out of many Scots when the real blame often lies within our own country. Burns aced it with the incomparable song from 1791, "Parcel of Rogues". Despite that, I was/am a lefty, independence supporter and at the time of the tour we could see an Independence referendum approaching. The referendum came about but the Scottish lack of confidence, regarding looking after our own affairs, came to the fore, and we're patiently waiting for another one, but don't hold your breath.
