This album seemed a good idea at the time. The tracks with our good friend, Aly Bain, were OK but, before we went into the studio, we agreed to use orchestral arrangements on many of the contemporary songs and some of the traditional songs. It was a slightly messy combination and we were well out of our comfort zone. We blamed ourselves for that but many of the songs were excellent and we joked that it was amazing that the song-writers didn't sue. It must be said that many people liked the album but, in retrospect, we didn't. We were not singing at our best and after that recording we stuck to what we thought we were quite good at. Maybe that's why the next album was to be the best of the early four efforts.
